Premiere Screening of Bunso

December 10 is the Human Rights Day. And in observance of such, Consuelo Foundation and Unicef proudly present the Philippine Premiere of:

Bunso
(The Youngest)

this Friday, December 10
2:00, 4:00 & 7:00pm
at the UP Film Institute

Quoting the synopsis that I got from the Bobong Pinoy Mailing List

“Bunso is a disturbing film about three boys, Tony, Itsoy and Diosel, aged eleven to thirteen who are detained in a jail for adult criminals. It is an immersion into the world of the city jail with many poignant moments from the boys who speak their truth with innocence and street smarts, pain and humor.”

Bunso is a documentary film and is not a commercial film. Thus, it won’t have any commercial runs. So, please do watch the premiere if you can.

Tickets are available at P40 each at the UP Film Box Office.

The creators of this documentary film are Ditsi Carolino and Nana Buxani, who also created the documentaries Minsan Lang Sila Bata (1996) and Riles (2002).

I was able to watch their documentary Minsan Lang Sila Bata in High School. The film is an eye-opener to those who have enjoyed their childhood days playing patintero, taguan, and the high-tech game consoles such as Nintendo. In this film, you would realize how lucky you are to be in the comforts of your home despite that you might belong to a dysfunctional family. This film is indeed an eye-opener on the issues of child labor.

In the film Bunso, you will see the lives of three boys inside a jail which is even more psychologically disturbing than Minsan Lang Sila Bata.

I hope you will be able to watch their films. It will tell you things that you may not want to now that is a part of the Philippine society.
