Because blogging and other online tools save paper

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

In my efforts to help save the environment, I am posting this entry in response to Blog Action Day. Other people would rather write their journal entries in paper rather than online. For me, I do not think it is practical. That is why there is WordPress and Blogger, and a handful of other blogging tools.

Reasons why you should blog instead:
1. It saves paper 🙂
2. You could search.
3. Most blogging tools have automatic archiving.
4. You could backup your data. If you do it on paper, it could easily turn into pieces and you cannot backup it unless you re-write the whole piece again.
5. You cannot monetize from it unless you are a popular person and you’re dead.

Aside from blogging, we’ve used Post-Its for reminding us about stuff that we should do etc. There are a lot of sites (i.e. Todoist, TadaList) that help us eliminate the use of Post-Its and paper for that matter. But if you want to do it offline and not online, there is a stand-alone application for that. 😀

Instead of using paper calendars, we could use Google Calendar. 😀 You could share your calendar to the people whom you want it to view or even make it public for everyone. Your paper calendar cannot do that of course. 😀

There are actually a lot of online tools that would help save paper but I would not mention the others anymore. 😀
