Thanks to Sha for this great music recommendation. 🙂 Anyway, I just learned that Franco Reyes had a gig in Mayrics, January of this year. And I missed it! Argh! In that gig, he’s with his collaboration band Suspitsados consisting of: 8 Toleran of Queso (guitars), Gabby Alipe of Urbandub (guitars), Jan Mendoza of Urbandub (drums), and Buwi Meneses of Parokya ni Edgar (bass). This song is also being aired on NU107. 🙂 Continue reading “Cast Away by Inyo”
Last night we had a “happy hour” with Delifrance President William Tan Untiong. In the event, he introduced a new set of products to be offered at Delifrance namely, Sputnik Vodka Espresso, Irish Kiss Baileys, and Mayan Passion Kahlua. 🙂 From March 3 to 7, between 5 to 7 pm, when you were asked by the barista for the password, just say, “Naughty with my Coffee”, you’ll get a spiked coffee for free. 🙂 Continue reading “Spiked After 5 at Delifrance”
After a number of rumors, I can finally confirm that 6Underground will have its rebirth at Pearl Plaza, Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, in Pasig City (near Univ. of Asia & the Pacific). After much deliberation, we decided to reopen it due to a number of opportunities that presented themselves to us that will better promote indie and alternative artists and help our rock industry as a whole. We had often been challenging ourselves to better our features and not be limited to being a bar (2 albums, prepaid cards, mixed martial arts, media tie-ups, etc.). We will reveal our new offerings as time goes by.
Now called 6UG Live & Raw (as a tribute to our live album under Warner Music), the bar will have its soft launch come this Thursday, Feb. 21 with Plastic Baloo, Publico, Jab, and my band The Amandas. Only 3-4 bands will play a night to give them much exposure. Beer will only be at P30. The rest of the sched this week is as follows:
It has been 10 months already since Narda had their last gig at Saguijo. This coming March 6, 2008, they’ll be having a gig once more at the same place (at Saguijo) where they officially bade goodbye. I am sure that Rain would really hate to miss this. 😀 [ via Narda Multiply ]
I was able to attend this year’s UP Centennial Fair. Anyway, I really did not expect that the line will be really long. We were in line for more than an hour and was able to start food tripping there even before entering the fair grounds. Anyway, we should have expected the long line because the last day had a great line up even if we weren’t able to finish it. We were outside the fair grounds when Paramita, Datu’s Tribe, Up Dharma Down, Giniling Festival, etc. performed. We were only able to catch the performances of Sugarfree, Cambio, Moonstar88, Chicosci, Slapshock, Greyhoundz, Ursa Minor, Intolerant (heard them for the first time), etc. Anyway, I was not able to take pictures of these bands because there were a lot of people. I would not want to risk myself going in front of the mosh pit. Hehe. 😀
UPDATE: Pictures are already on my multiply. Click here.
There was a rally last Friday at Ayala Avenue. I did not join in the rally but I was able to witness some parts of it. Prior to the start of the rally, me, Sha, Vien, Joms, and their colleague bumped into Atty. Raymond Fortun. The part of Ayala Avenue between Rufino and Paseo De Roxas Sts. were empty of vehicles. Atty. Fortun had us posed. 😀 He asked us to jump (yes, a jump shot!). He also asked us to pose behind the railings with a sad face. Hehe. It was during that time that I’ve learned that he is into photography. I am still waiting to check out the photos he took in the rally last Friday. 😀
It was a good thing that Mark notified me that there will be no entrance fee charged at a certain time. 😀 I went to the gig with Sha. We were able to catch performances by Sinag, Sino Sikat?, Typecast and Up Dharma Down. It was great to catch the performance of Typecast there since I do not have yet photos of the said band in my Flickr Pinoy bands collection. 🙂 In the gig, MusikLokal.com was formally launched. It was held at Warehouse135 which is located along Yakal St. in Makati City. T-shirts were given away in the contests. Check out more photos in my Multiply. 🙂
Itchyworms are currently working on their album which is hopefully to be released in the middle of 2008 (that should be around June 2008). The first time that I was able to watch them perform live was at 70’s Bistro in Cubao. I was still in college at that time. Itchyworms is composed of Jugs Jugueta (guitars and vocals), Chino Singson (guitars), Kelvin Yu (bass) and Jazz Nicolas (drums). Their latest album, Noontime Show, was released under Universal Records way back in 2005. Indeed, it’s time for them to release a new one. 🙂 Read more to catch their February gig schedule. Finally, I was able to see Christine Gambito in person. She’s the one behind HappySlip. She’s also the one behind in one of my favorite music videos in YouTube. If you haven’t watched that one, you should. It’s brilliant and hilarious at the same time. 😀 I did not win in the raffle, I was actually hoping for the cute and cuddly teddy bear. 😀 Congratulations to Noemi. 🙂 View more photos in my Multiply.
