I arrived their early eager to see the bands perform in the Man Blog event dubbed as The Banana Gangbang Rock Festival. The previously announced band line up was cut down to 5 for some reasons. Most of the bands performed were TMB Bands such as Zoo, Tempestuous, Lose your beer belly and Marco Palinar (who’s supposed to play with Sanity Kit but went on a solo act instead. One non-TMB band was able to make it that night and that was Mannequin (managed by Julius Rocas).

The first band who performed was Zoo. Lauren Dado is in the band (she’s on rhythm guitars). It’s the first time that I saw them perform and the set was made alive by their vocalist shoving off a cymbal (see picture on top). After this, Mannequin performed. Their covers of some Freddie Aguilar songs in hardcore rock version are really good. I think they should write more original compositions and do more hardcore rock. One of their vocalists impressed me with his growling.

After Mannequin, Marco Palinar performed next. He played a solo lead (around 7 minutes long). He could actually perform as a one-man band by utilizing his guitar effects. After that, Mike Villar’s band, Tempestuous, performed. They performed covers from the 80’s. My favorite cover from them is Seek and Destroy (originally by Metallica from their Kill ‘Em All album).

Then, Ade and Lauren’s band, Loose your beer belly, performed. After their last song, the audience demanded one more song and they played a cover (Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla). And yes, they did justice to the song.

Last Thursday, me and Sha unexpectedly spotted a Cambio gig at Podium (just outside UCC) that just started. There were only a few people there. If I’m not mistaken, they played around 8 songs from their new album Cambiomatic (played all songs in acoustic). Raymund Marasigan was not there. It was nice to see them at a gig after a long time. We were able to watch them last year (some time in December) just outside the Glorietta 4 entrance. More pictures of Cambio here.

Aglicay Beach Resort is located at Barangay Comod-om in the Municipality of Alcantara, Tablas Island, Romblon. We only spent half day there since we had to go back to Manila already. There are a lot of ways to go there. We took the tricycle ride from Looc. And if you plan to stay there overnight, take a look at the room rates.

For the day trip, you will only pay an entrance fee of PhP 40(per person) and pay the usage of the kiosk. We chose the small kiosk since we’re just a small group (priced at PhP 70). There’s no corkage fee there unlike other resorts. Thus, you may bring food there.

The Review

Sand
The sand is not that fine. You should be careful walking without your sandals or slippers at the beach because of the hermit crabs and possibly a lost crab.

The Waves
The waves are strong when we went there. Apparently this is because of the north eastern wind. When waves are strong, it is advised that you should not go away far from the shoreline especially if there’s no lifeguard present.

Food
The food is quite so-so for its price. The selection of viands may be limited because of there’s nothing else to cook.

The Small Kiosk
The small kiosk is good enough for 4 to 6 people. There is a tree for each small and medium-sized kiosks that serve as a shade from the heat of the sun.

Shower Area
For those going there for day trip, you have to take a shower outside the bathroom. It would be nice if they have provided shower curtains even if the shower area is outside.

And if you’re using a USB mass-storage media device (aside from iPod), then this add-on will be useful for you. This does not support Mac Intel though. It only works with Windows machines.

Carabao Island is just one of Romblon’s tourist destinations that is waiting to bloom. I was able to go there with Sha, Vieve and Evan via a boat from Sta. Fe, Tablas Island, Romblon. The time to go there will take you about almost an hour wherein we spent half the time screaming as if we’re on the Jungle Log Jam (one of the rides in Enchanted Kingdom). Upon arriving there, I just can’t help but admire its beauty. Its shore is covered with white and fine sand, similar to that of Boracay. The water is very clear. It’s wavy there though which is caused by the northeast wind.

We were able to go around the island and I saw a Tourist Information Center there and as well as some accommodations. The part of Carabao Island that we were able to go to is not the one you can see from Puka Beach, Boracay Island. According to some locals, an airport is said to be developed there. I did a little research in Google and confirmed that an International Airport is going to be developed there.

I do hope that the cleanliness in Carabao Island will be maintained.

I was not able to eat after the operation simply because I did not feel hungry at all. I was just drinking water. I started to work a bit and then, I just slept to rest.

Anyway, about my Romblon trip. I’ll be blogging about it and watch out for the pictures.

Gone are the days that my parents spend money on my birthday party. So, I treated them at Big Buddha at Greenbelt 3 yesterday since it was a holiday and because I have work today.

The first person who greeted me was five days earlier (our family friend Anna Liao). The second person who greeted me was two days earlier (someone from Friendster). The third and the fourth persons who greeted me were my former billiards and drinking buddies (Kat and Josh). Next to them is my family who greeted me one day earlier because of my lunch treat to them. I got a hundred bucks worth of Starbucks Gift Certificate from my brother that he got for free (take note… free).

The first gift that I got for myself is a Paramita CD at the Paramita Sophomore Album Launch. Of course, seeing Norman perform once again is priceless. Seeing Jaja, Noreen, Ace, Gretch, Rachelle, Ycoy and her ate is priceless as well. Getting nostalgic with Normz, Jaja and Noreen plus the Ragnarok boys is priceless as well. Of course I did not tell them that my birthday is coming up since I may go home broke. Hehe.

I’ll still be going out with my closest friends this week for a celebration.
