Seeing this film in 2D does not really impress me that much with the special effects that have been used in past films already. I guess seeing this film in 3D would have made a big difference. Nevertheless it’s a fun movie to watch especially with the action scenes.

To me, it seems that their journey to the center of the earth is just like going to a dangerous theme park where a roller coaster has dead-end and or broken tracks, flying piranhas while you’re on a raft, an obstacle race with a path of floating magnetic stones, race of death with a T-Rex and getting yourself out from a volcanic tube using a flare.

In addition, it’s weird to get a mobile phone call at the center of the earth. Also, I’d expect Sean’s mother to call any time just to check on how her son is doing. And of course she did not know is that her son is in a middle of an ocean with flying piranhas.

[UPDATED]: Confusion arises on who’s the real company behind it

We first heard the speculation from Tabachoi and Sha. I was actually with Sha at Gateway when some of her UP friends approached her about the USC in UP Diliman wants to have an Eraserheads Reunion Gig for the Centennial.

I was just actually waiting for it to be printed on paper before posting it here. Here’s the link to the Philippine Star Article, FLASH: Eraserheads Reunite. The concert is said to be held on August 30, 2008 CCP Grounds. The August 30, 2008 date came out when one commenter from Sha’s blog posted VIIIXXXMMVIII which we weren’t able to guess right away.

I think that the songs that they will be playing will be the same set Ely Buendia performed in his not-so-publicized concert in Sydney, Australia. Check out this YouTube video channel of StayDefiant.

I’d love to know where and when we could start buying the tickets.

One lister from the Eraserheads Yahoo! Groups said that when he/she (can’t distinguish if male or female, email address and display name is quite confusing) listened to Jam 88.3 where Pupil was a guest. The host asked Ely Buendia about the reunion concert. Ely Buendia confirmed it that it’s really going to happen this coming August 30, 2008 at CCP Complex.

And the company behind it will be Marlboro according to a source here (a comment from Multiply user subtersub). Jim Ayson also confirmed it here. He added that each e-head will get around 10 2 Million Pesos each.

Who’s the Company behind reunion concert?

It has become more confusing on who’s the real company behind the upcoming Eraserheads Reunion Concert.

In addition, there’s a follow up comment:

hindi red horse….red din, at minsan may horse…

Picking up the pieces of the clue left by this commenter, it’s Marlboro. Only cigarettes have government warning. In addition Marlboro Country Ads = use of red color plus horses. However, there’s still no confirmation on what’s the real score.

“Ang Huling El Bimbo” is just one of the songs included in FilharmoniKA’s album entitled, “Kumpas”. I was not able to hear it in the radio. Good thing there’s iMeem and someone uploaded it there.

It just feels nostalgic every time I hear an Eraserheads song. Way back in the 90’s, I remember buying song hits with Eraserheads songs and play them on my guitar. And I love playing Ang Huling El Bimbo (yes, the whole song). I also remembered that I would play the intro of “Kailan” on our piano. In addition to that, I’d play the familiar bass line of Alapaap that my brother taught me.

When I was in first year college, me and my neighborhood friends would sing some Eraserheads songs during our inuman sessions.

With this release of Ang Huling El Bimbo, I wish that I could see them play together again, once more.

I attended the Pedicab Album Launch at Cubao Expo with Sha. We arrived there early. My former org mate was also there (Nico). We chatted with him for a while. Then, Jay arrived. The gig started late as expected. The event was being covered by ABS-CBN.

Sara Marco of Taken by Cars

Taken by Cars performed first. Anyway, Sara’s microphone cable got unplugged from the microphone itself and I was able to take a picture of her plugging it back. At the start of their set, Sara started singing some lines from Pedicab’s single “Ang Pusa Mo” from their album “Shinji ilabas mo na ang helicopter”.

Chilitees

After Taken by Cars, Chilitees performed. It was my first time to watch them. I was impressed with their guitarist. They describe their sound as a fusion of alternative music and soul, hence, alterna-soul.

Raimund Marasigan of Pedicab

After their set, the band that we have been waiting for performed. All of them wore a white long-sleeved polo with a white rubber shoes. On each of their polo shirts, the words from the album “Shinji Ilabas mo na ang helicopter” was spelled out. Raimund Marasigan used three keyboards on their set. He has also setup some effects to be used for voice so that it would be distorted to a robot-like sound while he’s saying “Shinji, ilabas mo na ang helicopter”.

Pedicab performed some songs from the first album and some songs from their latest album. They also performed a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song. After their last song, I took the set list attached to the speaker in front of me and took it and gave it to Sha.

Tado

Anyway, In between the sets, there were contests and Sha won . She got a goody bag with an umbrella, a face powder from Cover Girl and a stuff from Olay (I forgot what it’s called). In addition, Tado arrived at the album launch of Pedicab. Some people from the audience had their picture taken with him.

I enjoyed the night even it was really hot.

Dear some LRT2 Passenger,

I do understand that you need to study real hard for your quiz or required reading by your professor but you see, your bag is also seated down next to you. Did you also pay a ticket for your bag? I think you did not pay for it. Other passengers have the right to sit also and you are so good in making yourself look busy.

Perhaps you’re in a high that you completely ignored the people around you.

One advice, move your big ass and bag please.

Even if Pupil was not included in the nominees for Favorite Philippine Artist in the upcoming MTV Asia Awards 2008, It’s good news that the Animax Channel Brand Video won the 2008 Promax|BDA Awards under the Best Music Video (Gold Award). And Pupil’s “Set Me Apart” from their album “Wildlife” was chosen for Animax’s channel brand video.

The animation was designed by Hue Visualab which is a Malaysia-based broadcast design and animation studio. The video was directed by Animax’s Director of Creative Services, Tracy Wong.

The upcoming MTV Asia Awards will be held in Malaysia and the nominations for the Favorite Philippine artist are Chicosci, Sandwich, Sponge Cola and Urbandub. I’m rooting for Urbandub and next to Urbandub is Chicosci.

Both are really great bands. I had the chance to watch Urbandub (during their first album days) at the now-defunct Rock Radio in Alabang. It was a Monday night then but I didn’t care because they’ll be flying back to Cebu.

Anyway, I like both of their music videos (Guillotine and Evidence) from their album “Under Southern Lights”. The music video for “Evidence” had one bloody ending and I like it better than Guillotine.
