It’s a bit of an exagerration to show Spider-Man in almost all of the cinemas in Metro Manila. I guess the cinemas are capitalizing on the Law of Supply and Demand. Since there are a lot of people that have been anticipating for the Spider-man 3 movie, they might as well capitalize on it. In fact, they are so smart that they decided to have the first day of showing of Spider-man in the Philippines on a holiday (May 1 which is the Philippines Labor Day and a non-working holiday). The much awaited music video from Paramita is now playing at Myx. The concept of the video is ala vintage style. I got the clue from Ping Medina’s multiply album photos and as well as Pong Ignacio’s album photos. Nic Reyes is the director of the music video. Aside from Paramita, you’ll get to see Ean and Armi of Up Dharma Down in the video. And of course, you’ll see Ria wearing a dress! Hahaha!
Pursuit of Happyness was based on the true story of Christopher Gardner portrayed by Will Smith. Will Smith’s son, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith, is also in the film portraying Christopher (the son of Christopher Gardner). The film showed the struggles of Gardner in pursuing his dream. Some of the struggles that Gardner encountered are: homelessness, tax seizure (leaving him with around $20 in his bank account), getting jailed and a lot more. The film may be inspiring but do not be fooled. In order to make this film to have more impact to the audience, Gardner did not receive a stipend in the film for his internship but in reality, he received a stipend worth 1,000 USD monthly. (more…)

Bridge of Terabithia is based on a novel of the same title and is directed by Gabor Csupo. The film stars Josh Hutcherson (as Jesse Aarons) and AnnaSophia Robb (as Leslie Burke). I haven’t read the novel yet but after watching the movie, it makes me want to search for this 1977 novel written by Katherine Patterson. The novel has created a controversy among the conservatives for they think that it promotes New Age religions and for its sexual content. This is a heavy drama movie. Thus, you should bring your handkerchief or a tissue with you prior to watching it. (more…)
