In lieu of the Incubus concert later, I’m posting here the 5 tracks that I have in my iPod. Anyway, I’ll not be watching the concert, I’m hoping that The Killers, U2, and Dave Matthews Band (and some other foreign bands in my list) will come here.
1. Talk Shows on Mute (A Crow Left of the Murder)
Released: February 2004
2. Megalomaniac (A Crow Left of the Murder)
Released: February 2004
The track Talk Shows on Mute is the second most played track in Last.fm in that particular album. Obviously, Megalomaniac is the most played track there. If I want some music to keep me up, Megalomaniac would be one of the tracks that I would listen to. But if I want something quite relaxing and moderately up-beat at the same time, that would be Talk Shows on Mute. (more…)
Ria Bautista of Paramita announced in the Yahoo Groups that the album launch is due this April 4 (at Route 196 - along Katipunan Ave.) and April 5 (at Saguijo - along Guijo St. in Makati). And yes, this is good news. It has been almost 3 years since they’ve released Tala, their debut album, and it is indeed high time to release the next one. I’d be definitely going to the April 5th schedule since it’s a lot nearer to Paranaque.
Sampaguita is a Pinoy Rock and Roll icon from the 70’s and popularized the songs Bonggahan, Tao, Nosi Balasi, etc. They had an album launch at Eastwood last Friday. I’m guessing that my Dad will buy an album of this since he have some mp3s of Sampaguita in his iPod. Anyway, I was not able to go to the event but prior to that, I’ve already heard about the making of the album. (more…)
Yes, Maroon 5 will be having a concert here in Manila this coming March 5, 2008, 8pm at the Araneta Coliseum. Thus, expect heavy traffic in Cubao this coming Wednesday. The concert seems to have an expensive ticket pricing (lowest at 1575 Pesos and the highest at 10,500 Pesos). I’ve first heard them in the TV series Smallville. (more…)
Thanks to Sha for this great music recommendation. Anyway, I just learned that Franco Reyes had a gig in Mayrics, January of this year. And I missed it! Argh! In that gig, he’s with his collaboration band Suspitsados consisting of: 8 Toleran of Queso (guitars), Gabby Alipe of Urbandub (guitars), Jan Mendoza of Urbandub (drums), and Buwi Meneses of Parokya ni Edgar (bass). This song is also being aired on NU107. (more…)
After a number of rumors, I can finally confirm that 6Underground will have its rebirth at Pearl Plaza, Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, in Pasig City (near Univ. of Asia & the Pacific). After much deliberation, we decided to reopen it due to a number of opportunities that presented themselves to us that will better promote indie and alternative artists and help our rock industry as a whole. We had often been challenging ourselves to better our features and not be limited to being a bar (2 albums, prepaid cards, mixed martial arts, media tie-ups, etc.). We will reveal our new offerings as time goes by.
Now called 6UG Live & Raw (as a tribute to our live album under Warner Music), the bar will have its soft launch come this Thursday, Feb. 21 with Plastic Baloo, Publico, Jab, and my band The Amandas. Only 3-4 bands will play a night to give them much exposure. Beer will only be at P30. The rest of the sched this week is as follows:
If you are a fan of these bands, I suggest you come in your best rock attire and support them. I can only explain further once you visit the new venue.
It has been 10 months already since Narda had their last gig at Saguijo. This coming March 6, 2008, they’ll be having a gig once more at the same place (at Saguijo) where they officially bade goodbye. I am sure that Rain would really hate to miss this. [ via Narda Multiply ]
