I wanted to try the food at Mister Kabab ages ago upon hearing it from Isi way back in college. I had the chance to eat there last Friday and traveling all the way to Quezon City from work is indeed worth it. For those who do not know about Mister Kabab, it is located at the corner West Avenue and Quezon Avenue in Quezon City and they serve sumptuous Persian cuisine. A lot of people eat there and we were lucky that there are seats available. One of my friends even told me that it usually takes a long time to be seated inside the restaurant and even if it would take them longer to get a seat there, they would wait for their love of Persian food being served at Mister Kabab. On our trip to the city earlier, our main goal was to shop for something to bring home. But before that, we had a taste of what KFC in China is like. KFC in China is different from the ones in the Philippines in a lot of ways. First, KFC in China has a menu with Mandarin and English translations. Second, KFC in China do not serve rice. Third, they do not have chocolate mousse and brownies for dessert. Fourth, the French fries that they serve there are the typical French fries like the ones you get to eat in a typical western fastfood. Lastly, instead of serving coleslaw, they serve corn and vegetable salad. (more…)

Nah! It’s not just a teeny weeny fly. It is a big fly. In the vernacular, it is called as a bangaw. The sight of them makes me want to say eew in my mind. They’re dirty. They have a close encounter with the feces and some rubbish too. Certainly, you do not want to see such creatures on your food. Apparently, my officemate just had this experience after buying her lunch in one of the Jollijeeps along Rada St. After opening the styrofor, she discovered one large fly in it. (more…)

We had a road trip earlier this afternoon in Tagaytay and we discovered a great food trip place. The name of the restaurant is Mama Neng’s Chicken Inasal and Lapaz Batchoy. Even though they don’t have the ever famous Tagaytay view bundled with the meal, the Lapaz Batchoy is already a jackpot. (more…)

It has been a custom to treat your family after receiving your first paycheck. Just this evening, Claudia treated us at Zong for dinner. When we arrived there, we thought that it will take time for us to be seated. We’re plain lucky that all the other guests belong to a group of more than ten. If you’re going to treat a big group, I suggest you and treat your family or friends at Zong for lunch or for dinner. It’s also good to make a reservation so that you won’t have to wait in line.

Pastel’s yema-filled buns are indeed a treat and are made in the island of Camiguin by VjANDEP Bakeshop. They also have branches in Cagayan de Oro City for those who can’t make it to the island. Pastel buns are sold in boxes of 12. Aside from yema, other flavors are cheese, langka, macapuno, mango, pineapple, and ube. Other flavors that are available only through special orders are durian, guava, strawberry, chocolate and special yema. These buns may look ordinary. However, eating these yema-filled buns can be very addicting. Hehehe!

Last Tuesday night we had dinner at Seafood Club in celebration of Dad’s birthday. It was supposed to be held at Unamas since Dad was craving for Spanish cuisine a night before his birthday. On the night of his birthday, he sent me an SMS saying that will be meeting us instead at Seafood Club which in turn has caused me to scratch my head in wonder. I guess Dad was craving for crabs and of course, the best way to celebrate one’s birthday is to eat his or her favorite dish. Hehe!
