MyBlogLog is a social networking site made for bloggers. I joined just this month after finding about it from Cesar. One thing I noticed about this site is that it has no ads. Their business model is something like that of Flickr where you need to upgrade your free account for a cost (25 USD per year) so that you could maximize the built-in statistical tools. The statistical tools will tell you where your readers came from (links), what they have read in your blog and your outgoing links. If you have a free account, you will only see the last 10 of it. Aside from being musically inclined, Kate Torralba is also fashion designer. She is one of those who are featured in Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty. In the website, you’ll be able to read the stories of the people featured there. You could also share your story and get a free limited edition statement tee designed by Kate.
I’d say that this is indeed a brilliant marketing done by Dove.

If I’m going to use the Philippine timezone as the basis of Blog Day (which is supposed to be August 31), then it’s over. However I would really want to share 5 blogs here.
Fashion Vice. Fashion Vice is a fashion blog. Basically, I’m not the type of person who would browse over fashion magazines and know what’s the latest in the scene. But, I do enjoy looking at photos of products and check the lighting conditions.
This Gay Christian’s Blog. I admire the author’s wit and most of all, being true to himself.
Designers Who Blog. This is a collection of featured blogs of designers. This is something that should inspire graphic designers to blog and to share their ideas through blogging.
Blog Critics. Blog Critics is a series of reviews with categories like: Music, Books, TV/film, culture, politics, sports, gaming and, science and technology.
My Extra Life. You may come to think of this as a comic strip blog. But wait, there’s more! Scroll down and you will get to read more interesting stuff.
Blog Day 2006 on August 31

I was just checking out my Flickr page and I found the blog of Tyson Williams since he added me as one of his contacts. When I was able to visit his site again, I discovered Blog Day there. Blog Day is going to be held on the 31st of August. And on that day, the pioneers of Blog Day are hoping that bloggers from different parts of the world will post a recommendation of 5 new Blogs. And as much as possible, those five blogs should have a culture different than theirs. Read more about Blog Day via this link.
Metro Basketball Tournament Website

Please do check out the Metro Basketball Tournament Website. I actually have gone through several major layout revisions before being able to come up with the final one. The final layout is clean, bandwidth friendly and easy to navigate. The logo and some banners (i.e. splash page banner, Hoop Wars banner). I designed all the other graphic elements found in the site. The news section of the site is still a static page. However, I’m coming up with a simple content management system for that. And yes, it’s going to be written in PHP and database is MySQL. Team Standings under the On Going League page is waiting to be updated.
The Photo Gallery of MBT site is powered by PixelPost. I hacked the Paged Archives addon such that titles of the images will also be displayed together with the thumbnails. And for that to display properly, a little CSS tweaking was also needed. Thanks to this particular CSS float tutorial.
PixelBureau is Back

PixelBureau is back since last week. Their current issue entitled as Reboot features three web designers on their Behind the Site column. Other columns are PhotoClick and FleaBytes. Gail dela Cruz is a resident editor of PixelBureau and a columnist of FleaBytes. Submit a site to the Site Tracks Directory. Mine was recently added by Ella’s SO. Hehe! I always thought that my site is not worthy to be in their list. Thanks so much! Check out PixelBureau and read the interviews and the articles. It’s really worth it. I think they should have added something like a rating system for the design aspect of a particular site.
Michael Yon Online

I stumbled upon his blog via Yahoo on their news regarding Blogger Gains Following with Iraq Reports. And I haven’t encountered a blogger online who has a choice between getting dispatched in Iraq risking his life or to just stay at home. You’ll be surprised to see on his page that he does not have advertisments. Initially, he was the one funding the project. Later on, he placed a PAYPAL support button to support the dispatch. And I can see that Michael Yon is indeed passionate with what he is doing. He even has three submissions for the Pulitzer Prize. Now, I’m hoping to encounter a Filipino blogger just like him.
I Love Jack Daniels

No, I am not a drunkard that is heavily dependent of a Jack Daniels branded alcohol. And again, no I am not a fan of some guy named Jack Daniels. I just bumped into the wonderful site of ilovejackdaniels.com a week ago and have given so much respect to Dave Child (the owner of the site) for preparing handy cheat sheets for web developers and designers alike. Cheat sheets that are downloadable for free (in PNG or PDF format) are Ruby on Rails Cheat Sheet, ASP/VB Script Cheat Sheet, HTML Character entities cheat sheet, JavaScript Cheat Sheet, MySQL Cheat Sheet, MOD_Rewrite Cheat Sheet, CSS Cheat Sheet, PHP Cheat Sheet and the RGB Hex Colour Chart. The site has become helpful in my daily adventures with PHP and MySQL since I’d really like to learn how to develop a site that is database driven. And IMHO, you really do not need to buy a book about building database driven websites. There an awful lot of tutorials and resources that are freely available online.
