Blocked in China?
Filed under Geeky stuff, Featured Sites
My blog is blocked in China! I tested using the website Great Firewall of China. John Chow’s test result is also the same as mine. However, he mentioned that when he was in China, he was able to access his blog and as for my blog, I was not able to access it there. Thus, I was not able to blog there. So I did an offline blogging instead.
I just wrote everything in Microsoft Word and saved the document. Then, I just copied and pasted the entries when I got back in Manila.
Spreading some link loving!
Bembang Blogs - Not blocked
Kiss Fendi - blocked
Thoughts in Binary - Not blocked
I just hoped that my URL is not blocked in China as suggested by their disclaimer:
this version 1.0 may report sites as being ‘blocked’, while there are only technical reasons for their unavailability.
It’s greatfirewallofchina.org’s aim to collaboratively build a community that will be able to visualize Internet censorship in an increasingly accurate way.

China blocks all wordpress blogs. It does not block Typepad. That is why you are blocked. Host service trumps content.

Euri, have you tried the link? try it

Actually, I think it’s awesome that you’re blocked in China! LOL. Think of the notoriety! Your tagline: 1 Billion Chinese Can’t Touch Me Because I’m A Bad, Bad Girl and You Know It!
Because, me… I’d like to offend the entire government of China… All those censorship of freedom of speech policies suck. That entire Google China censorship thing smells like rotten fish.
But as it is, I’m already offending lots and lots of people with my poor writing skills, grammar and lack of anything useful or interesting to say. Whoohoo!
Eh, there are so many ways to access blocked sites (proxies, etc.). Many Chinese people, I’m sure, have figured out many ways of getting around things.

By the way, I just tried it… The first few tries, the test couldn’t be started.
Message:
Can’t start the test.
Can’t open URL.
This page does not exist or could not be tested due to technical reasons!
Then of course, I realized I had WordPress Bad Behaviour plugin activated. (It will block HTTP requests like that.) So, I tried it a few times - it said, URL AVAILABLE, which means I’m not blocked by China.
The test is not accurate if you have software / firewalls / plugins that prevent it from being started. (Hence, the site’s disclaimer about it’s functionality.) If you have Bad Behaviour plugin, deactivate FIRST before running the test.
But damn, I’m kinda DISAPPOINTED. I wanted to be blocked. LOL.
