This year there are only 9 entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival. Four of the nine entries are from Regal Entertainment Inc. The 9 entries are: (1) Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo (Star Cinema), (2) Ligalig (CM Films), (3) Matakot ka sa Karma (Canary Films), (4) Enteng Kabisote 3: The Legend goes on and on (OctoArts Films and M-Zet Productions), (5) Tatlong Baraha (Violett Films), (6) Super Noypi (Regal Entertainment Inc.), (7) Shake, Rattle and Roll 8 (Regal Entertainment Inc.), (8) Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di (Regal Entertainment Inc.), and (9) ZsaZsa Zaturnnah: Zeh Moveeh (Regal Entertainment Inc.).

Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo is something that is made for the Juday fans club. This is just another perfect example of reel and real-life sweethearts and this actually works in Philippine Cinema especially with the terms box office are involved.

Shake, Rattle and Roll 8 is another installment of the Shake, Rattle and Roll series of movies. Will this movie shake me because of horror or because of humor? This movie shall be anticipated by the strong followers of Keempee de leon and Manilyn Reynes. This is also the first film of Nene Tamayo (aka Kumander Nene - first Pinoy Big Brother Big Winner).

Enteng Kabisote 3: The legend goes on and on is another installment from the series of Okay Ka Fairy Ko movies. Okay Ka Fairy Ko fans are currently anticipating this film. It would be great if the original Faye will play the role instead of Kristine Hermosa.

Super Noypi is directed by Quark Henares and he became known for the films Keka, Gamitan and Wag Kang Lilingon. This is the first time for him to direct an Action, Adventure full-length film. I’m quite disappointed with the casting of this film. However, I hope that they’ll have a kick-ass soundtrack for that matter :D.

ZsaZsa Zaturnnah: Zeh Moveeh is the film that we should all be waiting for. If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll surely love Rustom Padilla. Hehehe. I’m also impressed with the special effects in the film.

Lito Lapid has a film again and this time, with a younger leading lady. So far, this is the trend in the Philippine Cinema. Leading Man gets older while the Leading Lady gets younger. I guess he will be running in the next election.

Ligalig is a supense thriller film starring Cesar Montano and his wife Sunshine Cruz. This is about a series of killings in a certain town. Aside from playing the lead role in this film, Cesar Montano is also the director, screenwriter and producer.

Another thriller movie in this year’s MMFF is Matakot Ka sa Karma with Rica Peralejo, Gretchen Barretto, Angelica Panganiban and Dingdong Dantes as part of the cast. This is a film trilogy with the following episodes: (1) Aparador, (2) Kama and (3) Tokador.

hi. i just happened to pass by your blog. (i was searching for the list of winners of this year’s mmff.) anyway. i think kasal kasali kasalo was more than being something for the juday fans. i mean, i don’t like judy ann that much (and i’m really hurt that she got ryan agoncillo. *tear*), but still, the movie was very intelligently made. it was a movie the elite and the masses alike would be able to relate to. won’t it be more challenging to produce a movie set in real life and still give justice to the audience’s intellect? i think KKK really had a sense. i think it was worth more than the 140 bucks i paid for in the theater. wala lang. random thoughts from the random girl.

    (and super noypi sucks. bigtime.)
