In celebration of my birthday earlier (April 8 that is) I had dinner with Mom and my sister at Bubba Gump. Out of the blue, I just thought of watching a movie and the first that film that came to my mind was Ice Age simply because I would want to watch an entertaining film. Read more of my review. I have never thought that someone like me would be featured at the In the Machine blog of the Autodesk Manufacturing Community where Amy Bunszel is the columnist. She is one of the product managers of Autodesk Inventor Professional and it was such an honor to be featured there. It was posted there since the 23rd of March and I was only able to find out about it recently when I joined the Autodesk Manufacturing Community Portal after attending the 4-day Manufacturing Solutions Division Technical training for the new releases of Autodesk products this year. Surely, there are a lot of improvements for the 11th release of Autodesk Inventor. In fact, it is their biggest release. So, if you are an Inventor user, please do join the Autodesk Manufacturing Community portal since it is not only Autodesk makes the software better but the users themselves.

For the tech savvy guitarist, he/she must have an digital guitar tuner. Before a gig, you would not want to get caught playing a different tune from the rest. It could be a Korg, or it could be a cheap guitar tuner that you could buy from the nearest store. I got mine for less than a thousand bucks. For Palm users, there are software available on the internet where it has chord charts and scales so that you would not have to bring your good old trusty Jingle song hits. And in the absence of a multi-track recorder, you could get yourself a mini disc recorder so that you could record your guitar licks. I’d recommend Sony PC Compatible Portable HIMD/MP3 Recorder (which includes a stereo microphone). With the aforementioned gadget, you could share your compositions online since you could transfer your recordings to a PC via a USB connection. And for the guitar effects you could either get a multi-effects (Zoom, DigiTech or Boss) that is programmable or you could get a Chorus, Metal, Overdrive, Phaser, Reverb or whatever-you-need. I’ve also found a DIY stompbox site where they sell their specially made stompboxes and have provided some handy DIY tech notes. The tech notes should be a breeze for people who loves tinkering with electronics stuff.

It’s good to go to gigs once in a while since I’ve been missing a lot of them. And the best way to celebrate April Fools Day is by not staying at home and do some prank calls but rather by going to a gig and have laugh trip sessions with friends. Before even arriving at the 6 Underground, I saw Beng walking along Paseo de Roxas while I was approaching the intersection of Legaspi and Paseo de Roxas. I was surprised by his new look sporting his mohawk. We walked our way towards C. Palanca St. and found some fellow early birds (Rowi and I cannot remember her name) who also happen to be part of the Paramita Mailing list. After some time, Ria, Ja and Cess arrived. Upon their arrival, we went inside 6 Underground and prepared some stuff for the gig. It was like a deja vu. Something like Deadpan Society days. (more…)
