This is something that should make the DWF (Design Web Format), Autodesk be afraid of. I’ve seen the sample pdf file with an embedded 3D object that you can pan, zoom, and rotate just like what DWF can do. You can download the sample pdf file at this page. And comparing DWF and PDF, I must say that the PDF did not miss the security issue with regards to making sure that design cannot be copied easily. Let’s say you are in a design firm and you share your data with your client. The data is in DWF format and your client has DWF composer. Can you just imagine the possibility that the DWF file may leak into the hands of the competitor? Another plus points for Acrobat 3D is that the quality of the vector image is greater than that of DWF. The only advantage of DWF over PDF is the file size. DWF files have small file sizes. I haven’t experienced yet going beyong 1MB. However, companies would surely value security over file size optimization.

I stumbled upon his blog via Yahoo on their news regarding Blogger Gains Following with Iraq Reports. And I haven’t encountered a blogger online who has a choice between getting dispatched in Iraq risking his life or to just stay at home. You’ll be surprised to see on his page that he does not have advertisments. Initially, he was the one funding the project. Later on, he placed a PAYPAL support button to support the dispatch. And I can see that Michael Yon is indeed passionate with what he is doing. He even has three submissions for the Pulitzer Prize. Now, I’m hoping to encounter a Filipino blogger just like him.

I’ve just upgraded to the 2.0.1 release of WordPress. And in just a month after the release of WordPress 2.0, 114 bugs were fixed. And if you use dial-up for your internet connection, trust me, this is not just a five-minute upgrade/install. Transferring of data takes 98 percent of the time required for you to finish upgrading it. Just remember that everytime you upgrade your WordPress, do not delete wp-config.php and also the wp-content folder. Check the details of the bugs fixed here.

I got this ballpen from Autodesk just last January. Then I suddenly thought of why don’t I try modeling it in Autodesk Inventor. I began first with the main part and used the Revolve feature. Afterwhich, I entered in the assembly environment and continued doing the design there. You’ll notice that there’s a small green material which acts like some sort of grip. What I did is to use Rectangular Pattern first so that I’ll consider every column of that as one component. Then, in the assembly environment, I used pattern component so that I could place it around the pen. Then, I disabled the other occurrences since some of the columns reproduced are not necessary. This is rendered with Inventor Studio.

This is an overdue post that I should have made last week. However, it’s better late than never so here it is, for our own entertainment. Let me present to you, McDough Hamburger Buns. I saw this at Mom’s place and I took a picture of it using my camphone. And I just cannot help but laugh by reading the prelude “D’ Original”. Hmmm, how original can they get? Yeah, they’ve just “spoofed” McDonald’s.

No, I am not a drunkard that is heavily dependent of a Jack Daniels branded alcohol. And again, no I am not a fan of some guy named Jack Daniels. I just bumped into the wonderful site of ilovejackdaniels.com a week ago and have given so much respect to Dave Child (the owner of the site) for preparing handy cheat sheets for web developers and designers alike. Cheat sheets that are downloadable for free (in PNG or PDF format) are Ruby on Rails Cheat Sheet, ASP/VB Script Cheat Sheet, HTML Character entities cheat sheet, JavaScript Cheat Sheet, MySQL Cheat Sheet, MOD_Rewrite Cheat Sheet, CSS Cheat Sheet, PHP Cheat Sheet and the RGB Hex Colour Chart. The site has become helpful in my daily adventures with PHP and MySQL since I’d really like to learn how to develop a site that is database driven. And IMHO, you really do not need to buy a book about building database driven websites. There an awful lot of tutorials and resources that are freely available online.
