Mom just texted me this morning and she was asking me what do I think of the Sony DCR DVD803. The Sony DCR DVD803 is a DVD camcorder. You use a blank DVD instead of the usual MiniDV which means that the cost of buying removable storage would be at a lesser price since blank DVD’s are cheap at CD-R King. However, the price of this darling is really expensive. The only thing I do not like about this camcorder is the limited 10x optical zoom and the useless 120x digital zoom. As we all know, digital zoom is just like magnifying the image and cropping it. The quality that will be produced by using this one would be so-so and this is already based from experience in using digital cameras equipped with digital zoom. I advised my Mom that there are other great camcorders from Sony at a more reasonable price.

    Hi Karla,

    Choose optical zoom.

Even the best digital enlargement software in the market such as PhotoZoom Pro, which uses a proprietary interpolation for enlargement, looses quality in the post-process.

There are other digital zoom in the market which advertises of intelligent zoom. But in essence it’s just cropping (a process better done in the post-process).

anyways, you could use a minidv instead so that it would be more affordable for you
just make sure that it can be connected to a pc via a firewire port or via a usb port
