I watched Dubai this afternoon and the movie stars Aga Muhlach, John Lloyd Cruz and Claudine Barretto. The movie started with Aga Muhlach riding on his pick-up and singing Alapaap by Eraserheads. I was also reminded by a similar scene from a different movie where Eric Quizon and Giselle Toengi is on the car while Alapaap is playing. Star Cinema seems to have a big budget and they sure have a lot of “advertisers” in this film as shown by the short close-up shots of Bobson Jeans, SafeGuard, and others. Aga works for a courier company in Dubai. He sent money to John Lloyd so that they could be together again in Dubai. They had dreamed once in their childhood days that they would go to Canada. When John Lloyd was wandering around Dubai, he was able to meet Claudine who happen to be Aga’s ex-girlfriend. Then, things became a lot more complicated when John Lloyd began dating Claudine. And even became more complicated when Claudine became pregnant with John Lloyd. However, Claudine still loves Aga even though he’s very much enjoying his bachelor days. Claudine decided to go home in the Philippines instead of being imprisoned at Dubai for getting pregnant without getting married.

I’m from SF Ca. I rented this movie, one thing I can say…A STAR IS BORN..John Lloyd Cruz, he has a magnetic personality..

Yeah i agree. Cruz’s intensity is gripping. I was aphalled when some critic commented he had no depth. I wonder what that crit meant…As far as im concerned,i felt that depth.

Nice Movie, it really depicts talaga the life of Filipinos Overseas specially in the Middle East. John Lloyd really gave an outstanding performance together with Aga and Claudine. He(John Llyod)really evolved as an actor from the “tabing ilog” days, I’m looking foward to see his other movies.

I also did that, not in a pick-up though and I was driving in the Nevada Desert going to Vegas
